The Simulation Study workflow

JewelLabs  The Simulation Study functionality (jewellabs > Simulation Study) falls under the JewelLabs disclaimer. It is still under development and is provided on an 'as-is' basis, without any warranty, support or upgrades.

The Simulation Study functionality (jewellabs > Simulation Study) facilitates the integrated workflow between JewelSuite and CMG’s intelligent optimization and analysis tool CMOST, which allows you to perform simulation studies (i.e., sensitivity, history matching, optimization, uncertainty assessment).

Performing simulation studies with the integrated workflow between JewelSuite and CMOST, is only possible for CMG simulators IMEX, GEM and STARS.

The core of a simulation study is the simulation concept. A concept ensures models are physically and geologically consistent; retains full awareness of model dependencies and their uncertainties. The uncertainties introduced to individual parameters in JewelSuite’s modeling workflows are propagated from the static model to the dynamic model, with no extra scripting required. You can use a simulation concept as input to a simulation case, and the reference simulation case as input to a simulation study. This facilitates the JewelSuite-CMOST integrated workflow processes needed for simulation studies.

After you create a simulation concept with the Simulation Concept workflow, and assign the simulation concept to your simulation case (using the Create Case form of the corresponding simulation strip), you must build the deck and run the case. With the Simulation Study workflow, you select the simulation case, specify the uncertainty parameters to be incorporated as 'uncertain' in the simulation, and export the study files. These files are then imported to CMOST to create a study.
